As you may know, I've been trying to write a story based on my Morrowind character called Slim Oracle since around 2005. I started writing it some in high school around the time that I created this account on here, but it wasn't until '05 when I started really compiling it. I had a Notepad file on the side that had a complete chapter list so I could keep the narrative straight. That particular file caused a real nice writer's block around 2007 on my 71st or so page. I figured a reboot and hard reset would fix my writer's block. This time, I threw out the guidelines and just wrote what I felt like was the proper narrative. This time, I only got 4 pages in and hit a roadblock again. In the story, Slim Oracle is a professor at some magic school and he has just appeared out of nowhere. I'm stuck at describing him. Yeah. A character based on me and I can't describe what he looks like. Awful, innit?
Well, anyway, the point.
I wasn't able to sleep last night because I think I figured out what's causing the writer's blocks I keep having in regards to Slim Oracle and his story. Get this, he, Slim Oracle or more accurately now The Slim Oracle, isn't an accurate characterization of me anymore. OK, before you get on my case about identity crises and whatnot, hear me out.
Recently my friend

noted on his Facebook that his eponymous character was created 8 years ago on February 2nd. My character is two years older than the Cheddar Paladin; he'll celebrate his 10th birthday on July 18th. Yeah that's right, the Slim Oracle is a 10-year old character. I can't believe it myself. But I'm not saying this stuff about Cheddar Paladin to brag about characters. Y'see CP's creator has said before that his characters, most of whom are based on people he knows personally, tend to change based on how their inspirations do. A good example of this is his character based on my real life, as well as kayfabe, brother

. If you go back through CP's gallery, you'll see how Dewium Velleous changes as the years go by. Come to think of it, his modern look in "Allurea and Dewium" looks less like his Morrowind character and more like he does now.
The end result of all this is that CP's characters are dynamic as opposed to static characters. I would like to say that (the) Slim Oracle is a dynamic character too since he is supposed to be based on me and whatnot, and I've certainly changed a lot since 2003. But other than becoming a hybrid between Dumbledore in magical ability and all-around goodness and Doctor Who in time-travelling prowess and eccentricity in 2011 to make it easier for him to be used in other universes, he hasn't really changed much. He still has his trademark mushroom hat with spoon embedded and blue robe, he still wields an electricity-proccing broadsword and tends to be levitating in pictures he's in. But where's the real life me in any of that?
I created Mikhalangelo Roddbert "the Slim Oracle" Velleous in 2003 when I was 17-going-on-18 in high school when my career of choice was video game design. I'm now 27-going-on-28, a college graduate with 2 bachelor's degrees none of which are video game related (BA in [Russian/East European]history and a BS in elementary education), and a McJob that pays the bills and that's about it and of which I will be surely rid of in a few months.
As for a possible successor for this dramatis personae, I'll get into this later. This journal is long enough. Feel free to comment about it below if you'd like.
